Treadmills

What are the most common treadmill maintenance-related questions?

What are the parts of a treadmill?

Treadmills have structural parts, mechanical components, and electrical systems. The frame, running belt, and deck provide the structure, while the motor and belt are the mechanical elements. The control console, safety key, and pulse reading device are the electrical pieces.

How can I tell if the treadmill belt is too loose?

You can lift the middle of the belt. There should be no more than 2 or 3 inches between the belt and the deck. If there is more, you may experience slippage when using the machine.

How can I stop a treadmill from slipping?

You can tighten the treadmill belt by turning the two bolts at the bottom end of the deck with an Allen wrench. You tighten the belt with clockwise turns and loosen it by moving the bolts counterclockwise. If the belt is moving to one side of the deck, you can tighten the bolt on the opposite side to re-center the belt.
